ON Friday, October 25, students at Heathcote Primary School enjoyed their first ‘whole school reading time’ for term four.
Principal Kate Ballantyne said reading as a school community, which is done monthly, helps create connection across year levels. It also promotes confidence with, and enthusiasm for, reading.
“The school encourages both students and parents to get involved,” Ms Ballantyne said.
“Children are encouraged to bring along their favourite picture story books and join pairs to share books.
“At our last reading, I read Diary of a Wombat by Jackie French. We took advantage of the beautiful weather and read outside. The students enjoyed it and being outdoors was lovely. We're sure November will be just as great.”
NB: All photos here were taken in Term 3. During the warmer weather, students always wear hats.
